Our story
Sakhiya is a small business based in Braintree, Essex, bringing embroidered velvet jackets from Jaipur, India, to the UK.
The name comes from sakhi, a word for a female friend, a companion. It’s how we want every jacket to feel.
Our jackets are covered in suzani-inspired embroidery and made in Jaipur. We work in small numbers, so every design stays special.
Bold enough to stand out, easy enough to wear over almost anything. Throw one over a tee, a dress or your winter knit.
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, has long been known for its crafts, from block printing to embroidery. Our jackets are made there, in rich suzani-inspired embroidery on velvet.
We’re a husband-and-wife team based in Braintree. We started Sakhiya because we love Indian textiles and wanted to bring pieces like these to people who’ll wear them for years.
